Crazy jingus, dude. Expect me to become more and more delirious as I progress in this absurd experiment. Last night I failed to sleep at 6pm and 10pm, although I garnered some much needed rest... I felt great until 2, and had high hopes. The following events are kind of blurry though, so I can only relate what I think happened... ;)
I overslept and was awoken by my wife around 4am, I think... I got up and was ok but kinda groggy... I tried to read a bit, but had a hard time, so I watched some anime until 6, when I went back to sleep again, attempting to stay on schedule. This time, I again overslept, and was woken by my wife... actually, maybe the first time I just woke up on my own... I'm not sure anymore... Anyway, I finally ended up getting in bed and sleeping for probably 3 hours or so..... argh.
I'm pretty dead today. I skipped my 10am spot, and I'll try to sleep again at 2pm... This is extremely difficult.
well, in fact I remembered the sleep cycle takes about 1.5 hours to complete so if you try to disrupt it in the middle you won't get enough or quality brain rest. I actually came up with a 3-or-4 1.5-hour sleeps per day which adds up to 4.5-6 hours a day. The plan is of course to achieve 4.5 hours a day preferably. But to get used to the schedule I guess one should craft a transition period schedule. I'll write about this at my own blog.
I was reading all about this today, from a google search, after reading about it on your blog. I found good links on kuro5hin and Everything2 about it, but you've probably seen those ;-)
Good luck! I'll look forward to hearing more about it ...

Hmmm. Interesting. I may have to adjust the schedule later, after I find out what works for me... Maybe I can do 30 minutes each 4 hrs, plus an occasional 1.5 hour nap...
This is pretty cool -- maybe eventually we'll be able to figure out together the best schedule, through the contributions of a bunch of bloggers across the net... ;)

Hi Trevor,
If you're feeling like that after 2 days, you should really reconsider ;) Just kidding, keep going mate!
A friend and I tried it once - I felt like that after a week or so. It's really important to be able to go to sleep and actually get up, but as you've experienced yourself, it can be quite hard. My friend and I were out of town and as we were headed back home it was time for our sleep. So, we pulled in to a parking lot and slept - for 3 damn hours :o We woke up realizing people had been walking by and seen us, probably wondering what the hell we were doing there hehe... Although my friend and I never really made it, it's definitely worth trying out. Once my friend got really tired at 00:55 - 5 minutes before sleep time. He set his alarm, fell asleep and woke up at 01:25 - exactly 30 minutes later, all rested. Funny thing is, the alarm didn't go off until 5 minutes later :o
I'm quite sure that if you manage to get by those first weeks of zombieness, it's heaven - the best of luck from me to you :)
Cheers,
Joen.
