Hanging in Boston...

So last night and today, we've been walking all around Boston and hanging out at cafes. It's nice to be back in a town where you can get anywhere easily just by hopping on a train ;) At Harvard Square, I picked up the Nikkei Shimbun, Hangug Ilbo, and SingTao Daily — they have almost every language for sale at the news stands... :)

Today we hung out at a bookstore cafe with free wireless internet access, but no one was using a laptop except my friend Rich... Starbucks will be charging for theirs, but maybe some other independent cafes will have it for free. I can't describe how sweet it is to be able to access the entire internet from wherever you are. I feel so connected and liberated on wireless internet... My only problem now is deciding whether my next laptop will be a super-ultra-portable or a tablet or something more traditional... Then I do everything from the comfort of a nice cafe... :)

Dunkin Dunuts is ubiquitous here. I'll have to be careful to stay away from them when I get home or it may become a habit... ;) Mmmm...

I just went to the cafe called Paris on the Planet in Denver. They have wireless internet access with no charge. I found that it's so sweet just pick up the sheet without any worry of cable and others etc.

Have you seen any Tablet PC model these days? I saw Toshiba's new one, it's very cool. Although, processor is not so fast and software is not ready yet. I hope I could use these kind of technology with high-speed internet connection usiing mobile phone. The connection should be cheap, then you could be online anywhere, anytime.

そうだな~ ^_^

Yeah, I actually am hoping that tablet PCs start to take off. I dream all the time about being able to take my books, music, and videos with me wherever I go, all just on the massive hard drive of my laptop or iPod or something.

We're digitizing more and more of our information, but we still don't have a comfortable way to view digital books... Maybe the tablets will finally change that...

Also, I've heard that many Judges don't like people to be typing on laptops during trials... In many cases, people feel more emotionally comfortable with writing rather than typing. Maybe tablets will cause more people to take advantage of the power of connected software...?

You can actually do a lot with a tablet PC on the net when you think about it... You could just drag a bookmark from IE onto an instant messager, and tell your friend about a site. You could drag handwriting onto an IM to send him a note... :)

Very cool stuff... :):)
