Moving Again

This weekend we began moving out all of our things again in earnest. We're moving to a new apartment nearby to escape our landlord and a crummy apartment, and move into a much nicer place for a better deal. I'm exhausted.

We have to move everything to our parents' garage first, then into the apartment later, since our lease was up before we could move into the new place. So we're trying to move as much as we can ourselves, then get friends to help with the furniture next weekend.

After working on it most of the day Sunday, I took a swim in my parents' pool and relaxed a bit before going to meet Jeff and Sahala, who happened to be here for a wedding. It was cool to see them again. I think they'll be moving away from Austin in another year or so. Jeff convinced me I should spend my remaining time before law school finishing Final Fantasy X, which I had stopped playing... I agreed. I don't think I will do it though. Too many other 'important' things to do. I'll have to just get the latest cool stuff and play it all in 3 years when I finish school...

The weather has been oppressive here. Hot and humid. I can't wait for fall weather now: jackets and cool wind. :)

Moving is the worst. I hope it is worth it and the new place is great for you guys.
I miss fall...leaves and apples and hayrides...

Moving is a pain in the posterior. Hope everything goes as planned and that the new place proves to be good.

I'm looking forward to spring. Fresh flowers, balmy days and the promise that eventually it'll be time to whip out the sandals and the shorts and hie myself down to Bondi Beach for a few hours of baking in the sun.

Thanks guys. :)

We've had to move 4 times now since 1998 when I first left college. It's been pretty frustrating. The first few were to get more space, but after that they were due to money crunches and job searching...

We moved into this apartment a bit too quickly, and didn't check it out enough. We've had the stove replaced, the fridge replaced, roaches, almost had the ceiling leak, and had the bathtub faucet break and run for about a week (luckily it wasn't enough to fill up the tub). Each time something went wrong, it was like pulling teeth to get the landlord to fix anything. I'm sorry, but it's not professional to complain to your tenants about how much it will cost to replace a stove leaking gas...!

I feel sorry for the lady planning to move in, but I couldn't be too explicit about our problems for fear of causing a row over our security deposit. If I were already a lawyer, I might feel more confident about it. As it stands, I just want to get out of there and get all our affairs in order so I can concentrate on school. :)
