Lately I've been working on a paper about China's implementation of the TRIPs agreement (Trade Related Aspects of Intellectual Property), and have been looking at a number of Chinese language sources for information. So I made up a little table of the most common words related to IP in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean to see the similarity.
The Japanese and Korean words are actually pronounced very similarly and all use the same characters. The Chinese words diverge in their terms for 'patent' and 'intellectual property', but the meaning should be clear to Japanese or Koreans who see the characters they use.
Anyway, this is just something I found interesting as I was going about my work. ;)
